fears and joys about parenthood
Realizing that we didn't have anything for Scarlett in our emergency kit I whipped one up. I grabbed an old diaper box and got to work. It has bottles, formula, water, diapers, wipes, food, clothes, and a spit rag. It took less than five minutes and I feel so much better about the storm coming.
Im not sure if Scarlett plays too hard or if we get all of her energy out at one time. She loves to play on her own and play on our laps. Then she passes out. Right now she is taking her second hour long tap today. We are very hands on parents and I think she loves that. But then she has to take power naps so she can continue on playing.
This little girl is learning so much. She looks at everything in such a curious way. Scarlett loves to try new things and see bright colors. For her half birthday we are going to let her soak in a lot more. We are going to the zoo. Hopefully she likes to look at the cool flowers and the aniamls big enough for her to see. So is growing up so fast. She burped herself this morning after I couldn't get one out of her. I set her on her back in her play area and in ten seconds she had flipped over and burped twice. It is crazy how aware she is. Like she wants to do more but is held back by the tiny little body that hasn't learned everything yet. Slow down little girl it takes time
In celebration of keeping Scarlett alive for five months we took her to the mall to look around and get her ears pierced. We hit up the piercing place first so we could distract her with all the colorful things to look at in the mall once it was over. She was a true champion. She was upset for about a minute then continued to look around at all the bright colors in the store windows. So all in all it was a good day. She got some bling and spent the whole day people watching.
I love a bowl of cereal. I could eat one every meal in a day but for some reason I have only had like three bowls of cereal since Scarlett came home. Well I had one today and it hit me like the last time. Everyone needs me the second the milk hits the cereal. Buckeye wants out, Scarlett poops, the doorbell rings, buckeye wakes Scarlett, Scarlett wakes buckeye, and so on. The cereal is always soggy. Oh well. At bed time I can have one.
Red white and blue day. All of the patriotic pictures on Facebook are amazing. I loves seeing the new pictures of everyone. Stay save and remember to be nice.
I have a sleepy little girl that doesn't want to get set down. Thank you shots. We also had 3 poopy diapers in three hours this morning. So I guess today is a cuddle day.
Just went for Scarlett's 4 month appointment. She is 11lbs 13 oz. We also got the go ahead for "solid" food. We tried avocado. She seemed to like it. You could tell by the tongue coming out for more.
This little girl is getting so big. We find out how big on the 1st for her 4 month check up. She is starting to play more and sleep better. I could not have picked a more perfect baby. Scarlett is wonderful and we are so happy to have her.
I love this man. The best dad any kid could ask for. Our little girl is so lucky to have him for a daddy. He will teach her to be kind and patient, because she can't learn it from me. So glad we have Scarlett now. She brings out the best in both of us
I can't believe how fast Scarlett is growing. She can giggles now and even sits up for the most part. Soon she will be eating food, crawling, walking, married. Oh look im getting ahead of myself.
Scarlett is officially a big girl now. She slept in her crib for the first time. She did great. No crying or fussing. I wake up to her kicking and smiling. This was a big step and I was only mildly freaking out the whole time. I controlled myself, I checked on her only six time before I believed that the baby monitor wasn't full of crap. She was indeed breathing and asleep like it showed us. They grow up so fast.
Tummy time. Oh what fun. The baby getting upset that they can't do anything. Frustration running through their whole body, or stop and eat your hands. She is a crazy little baby. She is fussing and flailing and then oh a hand. Then back the fussing and then hand. She will make it over eventually. Until then im glad she has her hands to cheer her up.
We can now stand ( with help) for over 20 seconds. Our little girl is getting so big and strong
Yay! For books. Leif suggested that we stopped at goodwill today for a quick look and we hit the jackpot. We found six awesome books for her. The best part the total. $1.19. Thats at least a 98% savings. These books go from ten to fifteen bucks a peice. Im still looking for a pat the bunny book or something like it but we found a color book and a number book. Leif doesn't know what he is in for now. I used to just pick out books for me and it would take hours. Now I get to pick them out for the little girl too.
Like most dogs buckeye thinks that all blankets on the ground are for him. Well blankets, towels, pillows, really anything soft. His new favorite place to lay is in scarlett's activity center. Today I even caught him playing with the toy giraffe hanging in there. Crazy dog. I thought only cats liked dangling toys
The little girl and I have got this sleep thing down. Im more comfortable with sleeping without freaking out and she is sleeping through the night. Now daddy is a whole different story. He sleeps so soundly through the night that he isn't trained it hear her sounds and know when she is waking up or just moving. Well he needs to learn because nap time when im at work is always a fail. He closes his eyes when she is sleeping then he hears her move and gets up. Then he closes his eyes and hears her again. Gets up. Mind you she is less than a foot from him and at eye level. Still can't do it. I guess its a mom thing to always know what is going on even in your sleep.
I finally got a good picture of the silly head and the little girl. our babies together in one picture. Im so glad Buckeye likes Scarlett. They will be getting into trouble together before we know it. I can only imagine Scarlett using Buckeye to get things off the counter and Buckeye using Scarlett to eat all of her food she "accidentally" drops.
Scarlett is now three months old and getting so big. She is now surprising us with smiles. Not really sure how to make her smile yet. She keeps us guessing. I was beginning to think that she didn't think I was funny. I keep telling her that we are going to embarrass her when she is older and i dont think she believes me. Haha she is in for a treat with parents like us
