fears and joys about parenthood
Realizing that we didn't have anything for Scarlett in our emergency kit I whipped one up. I grabbed an old diaper box and got to work. It has bottles, formula, water, diapers, wipes, food, clothes, and a spit rag. It took less than five minutes and I feel so much better about the storm coming.
Im not sure if Scarlett plays too hard or if we get all of her energy out at one time. She loves to play on her own and play on our laps. Then she passes out. Right now she is taking her second hour long tap today. We are very hands on parents and I think she loves that. But then she has to take power naps so she can continue on playing.
This little girl is learning so much. She looks at everything in such a curious way. Scarlett loves to try new things and see bright colors. For her half birthday we are going to let her soak in a lot more. We are going to the zoo. Hopefully she likes to look at the cool flowers and the aniamls big enough for her to see. So is growing up so fast. She burped herself this morning after I couldn't get one out of her. I set her on her back in her play area and in ten seconds she had flipped over and burped twice. It is crazy how aware she is. Like she wants to do more but is held back by the tiny little body that hasn't learned everything yet. Slow down little girl it takes time
In celebration of keeping Scarlett alive for five months we took her to the mall to look around and get her ears pierced. We hit up the piercing place first so we could distract her with all the colorful things to look at in the mall once it was over. She was a true champion. She was upset for about a minute then continued to look around at all the bright colors in the store windows. So all in all it was a good day. She got some bling and spent the whole day people watching.
I love a bowl of cereal. I could eat one every meal in a day but for some reason I have only had like three bowls of cereal since Scarlett came home. Well I had one today and it hit me like the last time. Everyone needs me the second the milk hits the cereal. Buckeye wants out, Scarlett poops, the doorbell rings, buckeye wakes Scarlett, Scarlett wakes buckeye, and so on. The cereal is always soggy. Oh well. At bed time I can have one.
Red white and blue day. All of the patriotic pictures on Facebook are amazing. I loves seeing the new pictures of everyone. Stay save and remember to be nice.
I have a sleepy little girl that doesn't want to get set down. Thank you shots. We also had 3 poopy diapers in three hours this morning. So I guess today is a cuddle day.
Just went for Scarlett's 4 month appointment. She is 11lbs 13 oz. We also got the go ahead for "solid" food. We tried avocado. She seemed to like it. You could tell by the tongue coming out for more.
This little girl is getting so big. We find out how big on the 1st for her 4 month check up. She is starting to play more and sleep better. I could not have picked a more perfect baby. Scarlett is wonderful and we are so happy to have her.
I love this man. The best dad any kid could ask for. Our little girl is so lucky to have him for a daddy. He will teach her to be kind and patient, because she can't learn it from me. So glad we have Scarlett now. She brings out the best in both of us
I can't believe how fast Scarlett is growing. She can giggles now and even sits up for the most part. Soon she will be eating food, crawling, walking, married. Oh look im getting ahead of myself.
Scarlett is officially a big girl now. She slept in her crib for the first time. She did great. No crying or fussing. I wake up to her kicking and smiling. This was a big step and I was only mildly freaking out the whole time. I controlled myself, I checked on her only six time before I believed that the baby monitor wasn't full of crap. She was indeed breathing and asleep like it showed us. They grow up so fast.
Tummy time. Oh what fun. The baby getting upset that they can't do anything. Frustration running through their whole body, or stop and eat your hands. She is a crazy little baby. She is fussing and flailing and then oh a hand. Then back the fussing and then hand. She will make it over eventually. Until then im glad she has her hands to cheer her up.
We can now stand ( with help) for over 20 seconds. Our little girl is getting so big and strong
Yay! For books. Leif suggested that we stopped at goodwill today for a quick look and we hit the jackpot. We found six awesome books for her. The best part the total. $1.19. Thats at least a 98% savings. These books go from ten to fifteen bucks a peice. Im still looking for a pat the bunny book or something like it but we found a color book and a number book. Leif doesn't know what he is in for now. I used to just pick out books for me and it would take hours. Now I get to pick them out for the little girl too.
Like most dogs buckeye thinks that all blankets on the ground are for him. Well blankets, towels, pillows, really anything soft. His new favorite place to lay is in scarlett's activity center. Today I even caught him playing with the toy giraffe hanging in there. Crazy dog. I thought only cats liked dangling toys
The little girl and I have got this sleep thing down. Im more comfortable with sleeping without freaking out and she is sleeping through the night. Now daddy is a whole different story. He sleeps so soundly through the night that he isn't trained it hear her sounds and know when she is waking up or just moving. Well he needs to learn because nap time when im at work is always a fail. He closes his eyes when she is sleeping then he hears her move and gets up. Then he closes his eyes and hears her again. Gets up. Mind you she is less than a foot from him and at eye level. Still can't do it. I guess its a mom thing to always know what is going on even in your sleep.
I finally got a good picture of the silly head and the little girl. our babies together in one picture. Im so glad Buckeye likes Scarlett. They will be getting into trouble together before we know it. I can only imagine Scarlett using Buckeye to get things off the counter and Buckeye using Scarlett to eat all of her food she "accidentally" drops.
Scarlett is now three months old and getting so big. She is now surprising us with smiles. Not really sure how to make her smile yet. She keeps us guessing. I was beginning to think that she didn't think I was funny. I keep telling her that we are going to embarrass her when she is older and i dont think she believes me. Haha she is in for a treat with parents like us
This little is amazing. We love her more and more every day. She has sure an easy set up here. Free butt wiping, a personal shopper, and everywhere is a bedroom. I mean wouldn't be awesome to eat all you want and then pass out. Imagine doing that at a restaurant.
It is my first mother's day and it is great. I love love love being a mom. Our little girl is so wonderful.
Having this little girl around has really gotten my creative juices flowing. Ive had a couple ideas for children's books. Its just a couple of ideas but they are rolling around up in this noggin. I think a lot of moms have the same dream. If you write a good book then you dont have to leave your little one all the time. Their future would be better, all thanks to an idea. Here's hoping.
Scarlett is so funny. She will be wide awake playing in her jungle then next thing you know passed out. Its so great having a baby that puts herself to sleep. So can fall asleep anywhere. Lets hope she stays an easy baby.
Our little girl is growing so fast. At her two month check up we found out that she is 8 lbs 9oz and almost 21 inches long. She also got to meet her new cousin yesterday and she actually looks big compared to a newborn. Babies are so exciting.
I think I can stop using words now. Who needs words when you can just pull up a Scarlett picture that says exactly what you mean. Like the surprise look. Or the one she looks like a Don pondering an answer. In text now ill just send a series of Scarlett pictures and right enough said
Marriage is full of communication and teamwork. When you have a baby that teamwork is tested. The explosive diaper is the biggest test. You need like ten people to handle a mess like that. A baby mover to get the baby moved without more poop getting out. A diaper remover along with poopy clothes extracter. A bath starter, towel getter, baby washer, diaper disposal crew, another poopy clothes extracter to remove the poo from all garments, a changing table changer and a baby hugger. And countless more people. Luckily I have leif. The little girl and the house are poop free for now until the next code brown. Who would have thought the most interesting part of our day would be operation poo on you.
Its my birthday and im home all day with the little girl. She decided to be a super hero today. Look at that cutie. Its a great day with her and the silly head (buckeye).
It was my first day back and I missed the crap out of this little girl. Leif did wonderful with her. It was a short shift so it wasn't too long for his first time alone. Tomorrow I have a long shift so lets hope it goes just as smooth for them. Now that im home I have the little girl sleeping on my chest. All is right in my world.
Yay!! Cute baby alert. She is the best gift in the world. Happy Easter everyone. Today is a day to appreciate how blessed we are.
So much for being worried about having a baby. Ever since I popped the little girl out leif has been in love. So much in fact that he won't let me have her when he is home from work. He went from being deathly afraid of her to knowing what to do better than me. He had to fix how I put a diaper on. He burps her better than me and he keeps her awake better than me. And he was the worried one. He was just singing to her while saying what her arms and legs are. Now he is making her spell out o.h.i.o. with her arms. I told him that he is wonderful and such a good daddy. I already know her first word will be daddy.
Our welcome baby shower was today since someone decided to come early and miss our original shower date. It was so much fun everyone loved being able to see Scarlett at the shower. We now have plenty of diapers and more than enough love from all of our friends and family. Scarlett knows how loved she is. She is one lucky kid.
Its so nice to have everyone under one roof. Right now we are all in the living room. Leif is sitting on the couch and crammed on the loveseat are Scarlett buckeye and myself. It feels wonderful. She fits in so well. Buckeye is getting used to her. He loves smelling her. My favorite part of having her home is that her and buckeye get to bond. Now back to how she fits in. This little girl is a loud farter. It shocked us the first couple times. Now the problem with her being a loud farter is that we now have one more "person" to blame it on. Well this morning all four of us were in the living room and all you hear is ferrrrrrrrrrt. I look at leif knowing it wasn't him and we both look behind us and it was buckeye. We laughed so hard. We thought it would be our new pooper but it was the always powerful dog fart. What a family we have.
We went up to go see Scarlett today and the doctor said to go ahead and bring her home. I almost cried I was so happy. She met her brother. The big hairy monster that he is and I think he likes her. He keeps licking her legs. Its love. He is now sleeping by her bassinet. I can't believe she is finally home.
Just waiting for the word to bring her home. The end of this week seems promising. It can't come soon enough. I mean look at that face.
